BMW E32, E34, E36 Door Handle Seal (Gasket) Replacement Instruction

We are going to explain the installation steps to replace the door handle seal for BMW E32, E34 and E36. Hopefully you will find this tutorial helpful.

This is one of the door handles for BMW E34 525i. Notice how the seal around the handle is dried and cracked?

Here is a view of the hole that you will need to work through to unlock the trim piece around the exterior door handle. It will be the same hole on all four (or two) doors that are on your BMW.

Gently pry off the cover on the hole you need to work on. If you want, you can take the whole grommet off, or just take the cap off. Either way you can get the job done.

Now look into the hole, you should see a piece of metal that is curved downward on the end closest to you. Get a flat tipped screwdriver and gently push the piece away from you about a half inch or so. This will unlock the trim piece that is around the door handle. Remove the trim piece by pulling it from the top and rotating it towards you. It should just fall off after that.

The end result of unlocking the trim piece. Notice the broken rubber seal all over the place.

Now, with the new rubber seal, make sure that the seal around the trim. Failure to put the rubber around the trim may make it more difficult to install the trim piece.

Time to install the trim and seal. With the trim tilted toward you, insert the bottom "hooks" into their respective holes, and then tilt the top into position.

Now to lock the trim in place, you will need a tool that is "hooked" on one end, in this case a scribe is used. To make this a little easier, put something between the door and the car so it can't shut while you push on the trim. Push the trim so that it is flush and down all the way. While pushing on the trim take your tool and pull the hook piece toward you (half in or so) until it stops. Your trim piece should be locked in position now.

Replace the cap on the hole. The finished product should look like new, once you are done.

BMW Outer Door Handle Rubber Seal (Gasket) SET for E32, E34, and E36

100% made from natural rubber, more durable than synthetic rubber.

This is a new set (4-pieces) of Outer door handle rubber seal for BMW model E32, E34 and E36. Under the hot sun the original door handle seal might crack or wear out over time, which does not look nice and also will allow water and dirt to slip into the door, eventually might damage the door lock mechanism.

This product is used to replace the damaged outer door handle seal only. Instead of purchasing the original set which include the door handle (normally not easily damaged and do not need to be replace), this will help save money and not wasting a perfectly good door handle.

The door handle rubber is made from first class rubber that is more durable than the synthetic rubber produced by BMW. This product is more cost effective whereby it is less costly and has longer life span.

Please don’t delay from changing the cracked door seal. In the long run it might be more costly if water and dirt went inside the door and damage the door lock mechanism, which will be inconvenient and costly to replace.
